Silver futures surge to Rs. 39,552 per kg

Mumbai-India (May 26)  Tracking a firm trend overseas, silver prices surged 0.82 per cent to Rs. 39,552 per kg at the futures trade today as traders built up fresh positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in July rose Rs. 323 or 0.82 per cent to Rs. 39,552 per kg in a business turnover of 1,422 lots.

Similarly, the white metal for delivery in far-month September was trading higher by Rs. 312 or 0.78 per cent to Rs. 40,218 per kg in 30 lots.

Market analysts said fresh positions created by participants in line with a firm trend in global markets mainly influenced silver prices at the futures trade.

Meanwhile, silver rose 0.68 per cent to $16.40 an ounce in Singapore.
