NEW DELHI-INDIA  (OCT 12)   Taking weak cues from the global market, silver prices moved down by 0.68 per cent to Rs 49,179 per kg at the futures trade today as speculators trimmed their positions. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver prices for delivery in March next year traded lower by Rs 335 or 0.68 per cent to Rs 49,179 per kg in a business turnover of 9 lots.

Similarly, the white metal prices for delivery in December declined by Rs 322 or 0.67 per cent to Rs 47,942 per kg in a business volume of 793 lots.

In the international market, the white metal traded a shade lower at $21.68 an ounce in Singapore.

Market analysts said a weak trend in the Asian region led to the fall in silver prices at the futures trade here.

India is the world's largest silver consumer.
