August 5, 2013

New Delhi-INDIA  (Aug 5)  Tracking a rising trend in the global market, silver futures prices rose 0.47 per cent to Rs 42,168 per kg today as speculators built fresh positions amid covering-up of short positions.  On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in September traded higher by Rs 199 or 0.47 per cent to Rs 42,168 per kg in a business turnover of 1,458 lots.

Similarly, the white metal for delivery in far-month December traded higher by Rs 174 or 0.41 per cent at Rs 42,882 per kg in a turnover of 58 lots.

In the international market, silver traded slightly higher at $19.92 an ounce in Singapore.

Market analysts said besides covering-up of short positions by speculators, a firm trend in the precious metals in the global market as US jobs data backed the case for the Federal Reserve to maintain stimulus, boosted silver prices at the futures trade.
