Silver prices jump on short-covering and a weakening US dollar

January 23, 2014

New York (Jan 23).   Silver prices jumped more than 2% to $20.17 in early new York trading. The price surge is attributed to short-covering and the US Dollar Index falling 0.70 to 80.61. Since last Monday the white metal has slowly slid from $20.40 in lackluster trading. However, the high during the last three months was $23.05 in early November 2013.
