There are trillions of dollars of bonds in the world with negative yields – a fact with which future historians will find baffling. Until now those negative yields have been limited to the safest types of bonds issued by governments and major corporations. But this...

We have said the bulls had a bad day on Wednesday. How would you rate their yesterday’s performance? Heck, they are not having a good day today either. Black gold is heading for the biggest weekly loss in 2019. Has the support fallen out from below? Where can we...

Silver has come under fire lately. Since the beginning of 2019, the price of the gray precious metal has declined by a little more than seven percent. Could it go lower?

The NASDAQ and Russell 2000 both made new lows today, but the S&P 500 (and Dow 30) did not, creating a temporary slightly bullish divergence. But overall, the pattern is worrisome for the market after the expected relief rally into next week.

Stocks traded within a short-term consolidation yesterday following their Tuesday’s rebound. The S&P 500 index remains close to the 2,850 mark. Will it break below the recent local lows? Or is this just another bottoming pattern before upward reversal?

Brexit has been a long, drawn-out saga. But finally, Theresa May’s indecision appears to be coming to an end. She has finally been cornered in a tragic opera with more twists and turns than Wagner’s Ring Cycle. May’s Götterdämmerung is reaching its conclusion. ...

Crude oil hasn’t closed higher yesterday and the previous series of rallies appears to face stiff headwinds. Is this it, or can the oil bulls pull a rabbit out of their hats? After all, they’ve reversed Monday’s downswing already. Or does the prospect of wide...

Stocks are in wafting mode, indifferent to tariff wars, slumping retail sales and impeachment talk. The broad averages have been racking up impressive gains even when buying interest is weak to nil.

The graph here shows the point at which I said early last summer housing sales had turned over (for the worst) and would remain on a downtrend indefinitely, and it shows how that prediction has panned out.

In our last update, we stated that Bitcoin was providing us the minimum price patterns to suggest that a bull market was under way. Moreover, we were looking for a standard corrective pullback to solidify the bull market case.

Relentlessly, the USD Index keeps pushing higher. The euro has come under pressure earlier today though it looks to have stabilized. How close are we to the euro flashing a buy signal and how strong would that have to be to make us act? Is it time to change sides...

Is it okay for Tesla bulls to come out of their bomb shelters?  Perhaps, but only with caution. The stock bounced sharply on Monday from a low that was close to the 193.31 Hidden Pivot support we were using as a minimum downside target.

As markets continue to gyrate on global trade and tariff threats, precious metals are struggling to capture investor interest. Lately, the big push in alternative assets has been in Bitcoin. The cryptocurrency has doubled in price over the past two months, though it...

The global economy began an experiment with fiscal and monetary alchemy when it exited the gold standard almost 50 years ago. In 1971 the USD completely separated from the last vestiges of its tether to gold. In effect, it released the worldwide monetary system from...

Silver looks considerably weaker than gold, although that is normal at this stage in the cycle. It is still considered likely that it is forming a Double Bottom with its lows of late 2015, and if so then the support at those lows should hold.

Large precious metals speculators slightly added to their bearish net positions in the Silver futures markets this week, according to the latest Commitment of Traders (COT) data released by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) on Friday.

Long-term – on sell signal. Short-term – on sell signal, correction is ending. Cycle is down. COT data is favorable for overall higher silver prices.

Bitcoin is on the move again, a venomous snake in the grass. You might expect to find a reasonable explanation for cryptocurrency’s sudden, spectacular rise from the dead. Instead, you get only dim-witted speculation that institutional players are starting to warm...

We generally chart the regular NASDAQ -- the NDX, QQQ, and the futures -- but when you consider that a mere five momentum names, affectionately given the acronym "FAANG," comprise nearly 40% of the weighting of the entire index, a glance at the Equal Weight version...

The on-again, off-again trade deal with China has put some life into the stock market, all of it vicious. It has also invigorated an otherwise moribund discussion concerning weather tariffs are good or bad. Popular wisdom has it that the mere discussion of Smoot-...

Was it President Trump’s intention all along that trade talks with China fail? That’s the contention of ‘Farmer,’ a long-time subscriber who lives in Nairobi. He posted earlier today as follows in the Coffee House, a chat room that runs alongside the Rick’s Picks...

We have seen a pretty sharp oil reversal yesterday. The U.S. session sent oil bulls packing. Not giving up, they’re attempting a comeback today. Geopolitical news to their rescue: the drone attacks on key Saudi pipelines. Emboldened by this tailwind, do the oil...

In Part I of this report we talked about and showed you the charts of the Hang Seng and DAX index charts and what is likely to unfold. In today’s report here we touch on the US markets. As we've suggested within our earlier research posts this year, US election...

My minimum upside target for the S&P500 is still 3095, about 7.4% above current levels, and I am sticking with it. A corresponding rally in the Dow Industrials would leave them just shy of 28,000. Let me also mention that last week’s nasty selloff would have...

So much for the trade war being “good and easy to win.” Let’s be honest. Trump has been grinding away on it for almost a year now, and China has barely flinched in its negotiations. On Friday the tariff war became personal because it will now tap your own budget and...

It is becoming evident that the US/Chinese trade issues are going to become a point of contention for the markets going forward.  We've been review as much news as possible in an attempt to build a consensus for the future of the US markets and global markets.

Towards the end of long expansions (this one is the longest on record) things get tight. Factories operate flat-out and start raising prices. Good workers become harder to find and companies start competing for them with higher wages and other perks.

Silver is on a major sell signal. Major signals can last for months and years and are suitable for long-term investors. SLV is on short-term sell signal. Short term signals can last for days to weeks and are more suitable for traders.

So far there has been no follow thru on the VIX spike, and all of the spikes since 2009 has been corrections within a bull market, with the long term trendline support intact.

Three weeks after I projected a fall to 53.60, Lyft has touched that number and gone as low as 52.78. The stock will have another chance to pick up support slightly below, at 52.27, a midpoint Hidden Pivot, but a decisive breach would put a 41.54 target in play....

The answer to the fall of the Dollar is yes. In fact, our specialized cycle analysis presented in this article will show: The US Dollar index (USD) will fall to 70 by 2020, and to 60 by 2025.

Stocks were mixed on Wednesday, as investors hesitated following the recent decline. The S&P 500 index remained below the 2,900 mark. On Tuesday it was the lowest since the early April. Is this still just a downward correction or a new downtrend?

When I last wrote on April 26th, I was looking for a move above 2960. We tagged 2954 on May 1 and then pulled back to 2862 on May 7th. The SPX fell into a rising channel formation and decline to go below 2860, which means to me we have one more rally left before we...
